Halloween + Sandy

This week was quite a week! It was Halloween in the city + Hurricane Sandy...

For Halloween, Heath and I went as Moonrise Kingdom...

 the French went as...French :)

Our friends Jay and Jen went as Snow White and the Huntsman

Then, we prepared for Sandy...this is Sunday before my mom and sister drove home, after their flights were cancelled.

We spent Monday evening at Henry's, we were lucky, most restaurants were closed.

And then watched The Money Pit - this is the best scene - the bathtub scene.

The waves were really high on the Hudson River, but the upper west side was the luckiest neighborhood of all.

A lot of wind damage, many trees were split in half.

It was also difficult to find bread, but luckily Silver Moon had freshly baked baguettes, if you stood in line.

Here's a picture of where the darkness started/stopped. Lower Manhattan lost all power and water. Everything was closed for 4-5 days.

This pic is not mine, saw it on facebook from A Cup of Jo, such a great image.

We also had time to shop for Obama pins

And visit The Metropolitan Museum - for free!

And pedicures!!!

The week was over so quickly...and the French took Sandy so well. I would have cried if my trip was taken over by a hurricane, but they were so happy we still had power and water. We had a great time + hope they come back when there is no threat of a hurricane!

it was a very short visit, but so much fun and love....
Sandy came to clean and to help rebuilt a more beautiful NY.

Yeah sure !
Well we still have Hurricane Rémi blasting the hell out of Montpellier... not to mention Antoine Stormy Valette.
Nobody seems to care ?

Wow , you guys came through Sandy without a scratch!
Michel , the gray hair from the two little hurricanes will add to your already good looks and charm.

We want to come back with the kids. Thanks again Sarah and Heath for having a hurricane especially for us ;)
