memorial day at the pughs

Poems by Tory

Oak Tree,

An oak tree is like a
Big lonely man who can't move any more.
His arms spread wide,
Waiting for someone to come hug him.

The Lake

I walk up to the lake.
The wind flowing through the air.
The trees, like people waving in the wind.
I see the blue sky and the sun in the middle aiming down at the lake.
The birds flying overhead.
I feel free when I walk to the lake.

Rain,

Rain falling down on me,
I can barely see.
I 'll go under that tree,
But I have to pay the fee.
The lighting starts to come down.
Look what I found,
I don't look so happy,
Look at my frown,
Because the rain is falling down.

I Run,

I stand there on the field,
Ready for the ball to come to me,
The pitcher winds up and releases the ball.
The batter swings and the ball is up in the air,
I run,
I run as hard and as fast as I can,

The ball falls in my glove.

Crazy event

Maybe you've heard of that huge event that happened this week end on the Champs Elysées in Paris... The whole street was covered by flowers, wheat and other plants.
We couldn't stay long because of how crowded it was !!! And it was really hot today too !

Hayneedle Hustle

This is the commercial we were shooting in Miami...click on 'Watch the Videos'.  The first one is the choreographer teaching the dance, then the actors themselves, the final video is the crew doing the dance.  You can see Heath in a dark blue shirt with light blue pants front left and I am all the way in the back on the right with an orange shirt and black shorts :)

A week at Ely's to go

I spent one week helping my parents at Ely's to go...here are a few pics of all the delicious food we made.  It was so much fun, but so much work!

Switzerland

I went to Bâle (also called Basel) in Switzerland with school for 3 days...
A 7 hour trip by bus, exhausting !!

We visited a LOT of things, of course mostly architectures from famous architects !

But first, I wanted to show you the place we were staying at. It's a youth hostel, but it's brand new and it's SO great compared to anything I've seen before !!
Okay, it kind of looks like a prison, but it's very comfortable and clean !

The doors on the right are the bedrooms, and on the left, the showers.

The entrance
And the dining room !

Now these are social housing, from Peter Zumthor.
They love concrete and raw wood there !

This is a signal center (I'm not sure of the translation, it's to guide trains) from Herzog and De Meuron (They are the one who made the Bird's Nest in Beijing for the Olympic Games)

This is a rehab center from Herzog and De Meuron too. Concrete and wood again...

A museum from Renzo Piano (who built the Beaubourg Museum in Paris with Richard Rogers)

Then we went to visit Vitra (Designer and manufacturer of contemporary furnishings )

This is the fire station from Zaha Hadid (famous women architect who works with the idea of movement. No right angles at all.

The Vitra House, from Herzog and De Meuron again !! Pretty amazing, it's a show room so we got a chance to try all the furnitures inside !

Vitra museum, for Franck Gehry

A building for lectures and conferences from Tadao Ando, japanese architect known for his concrete architectures around the world.
A few leaves fell in the concrete during the construction !

Then, we went to this place :

Pretty scary, it looks like a horror movie, like a huge rock on the hill.
It's a concert hall from Rudolf Steiner, founder of anthroposophy

And we ended with Tinguely's museum
He's an artist who works with movement, all of his work moves thanks to a mecanism.
Pretty fun !

Voilà !!
