Manufacture de Sèvres

Today, I had the chance to visit with my school the "Manufacture de Sèvres" very famous for its porcelain.
We saw all the stages in the making of porcelain.
Here are a few pics taken with my phone

the molds

from right to left, the different stages, the one on the right is after being enameled

old wooden oven

The quality of porcelain can be judged by its color (the whiter, the better), its transparency and the sound it makes when you "clink" it

A very old wooden oven, that hasn't worked for 27 years, and was turned on yesterday for only 2 days for a special collection from an artist who died before she could finish her work

This is how they enamel a plate
