Winter

Last week, I got to interview Kevin Carroll, the creator of a prosthetic for a dolphin named Winter. There's been a movie made of this story, Dolphin's Tale. The interview will air sometime this month, I'll send the info when I receive it.

He brought one of the tails with him for us to see. It was amazing! Winter lost her tail when she got caught in a fishing net. Kevin and his team created many prototypes before finding one that worked, and that Winter liked. They have to refit her every 4 months since she's still a baby and growing all the time. There's a gel liner, called Winter's Gel, created just for Winter that goes on the inside of this prosthetic. It keeps the prosthetic on Winter and allows for all of her movements. It's also comfortable on her skin. So incredible.
