A Chicago Thanksgiving

Yesterday the Roses and I went to the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade. It wasn't nearly as large as the NY Parade, but the boys had a great time.

This was our view for about an hour...waiting for it to start.

Finally...

The best part was seeing the balloons duck underneath the 'el', the elevated train that runs throughout Chicago. (Click on the image below and look at the far right side.)

Here's a shot of how they have to maneuver the balloons under the train tracks :)

And...the food!

We had Chestnut Stuffing with puff pastry and gravy, Baked Corn, Cauliflower Mousseline, Mashed Potatoes with cream cheese and green onions, Fresh Cranberry and Orange Relish, Green Bean Casserole, Coconut Cream Pie + Pumpkin Pie.

I Sync. Swim

Hi from Trinity,
We went to a synchronize swim clinic in San Antonio and Trinity got to be taught by 2 Olympians.
It was so beautiful. She will compete soon and I will share more pics.

Eat Pure Play smART

Our last event will be teaching a Tai Chi exercise class. We have had about 15 people coming to our event each time.
People have been very receptive to the idea that our body is a work of "smART". Thus why would we treat the work of art in such a horrible way by ingesting so much toxin. Thanks me Oanh for the advice on using the word "smART" instead of "hard".
We talk about 3 main reasons for food: to fuel, to heal and to flush.
In the new year, we will push the "Engine 2 Diet". I can use any help I can get out there:)

Screenprinting . Week 4

We burned even more screens today...and printed from our first screens.

Here's a sneak peek at our brand new screens.

A quick practice before moving onto our 1st real project.

And voila...we printed these beautiful numbers onto white napkins.

Here they are, on our table!

Bewitched !

This Saturday afternoon, we went to Pezenas, looking for antiques and chasing unwanted plants for Laure
This town is famous for it's beautiful 17 th century houses

And also for being the birthplace of Molière (the french Shakespeare)

But we did not know  that Harry Potter also lived there !
The house of Griffindor, only 45 mns from Montpellier !

maybe these plants are used for preparing magic potions !
using every crack in the pavement

hiding in the doorways...

who knows what's hiding beind these walls and doors ?

and when you see a bridge of sighs what comes next ?

hopefully you can hide in this nice bookshop and get a cup of tea
or spend the rest of the afternoon in this candy store ?

Screenprinting . Week 3

Yesterday we burned our screens. It's a fairly easy process, but takes some time. First you oil your images so that the paper becomes like velum, or just use velum!

Then you drag a thick liquid emulsion across your screen, let it dry, then place it on top of your image(s), weight it down and place it on the machine that exposes the design to a bright light for 5 minutes. The emulsion doesn't get baked into the black parts of your images, only the transparent parts. You then wash off the emulsion and you're left with your images burned into the screen.

The VW beetle is just a stain from the previous user  :)

Next week we'll begin printing!

Unwanted plants

I'm working on a project about "unwanted" plants that we can find everywhere. Here are some pictures

Falling Water

Heavy Rains have been hitting the south of France for almost two weeks. Today was quiet so we left the house and took some pictures.

We got our own cascade in the backyard ! So Chic !
Kids can go fishing !
The Herault river in full power, near Saint Martin de Londres
The source of the Bueges River
The village of Pégairolles de Bueges
In Saint Jean de Bueges : never seen that much water !
