This weekend the Roses made a visit to Chicago...

We started off with Sprinkles cupcakes on Friday.

Then Deep Dish Pizza from Giordano's.

And...Fruit Sushi for breakfast on Saturday.

We also took an architecture boat tour from Navy Pier.

And the trip would not be complete without a ride on the flying swings...can you spot Isaac?  He's wearing red pants :)

Dear Family...

Dear Family...

I have been wanting to go to Vietnam for some time now (all of my life) and I really think it needs to be soon (in the next 2 years).  I would like my mother, father, sister, husband and stepson to accompany me along with any other family members who would like to join :)

If you need some convincing, please click on this link.

Love of Centuries Gala- Long Beach Calif.

I got a chance to be a part of a gala for our meditation group last week end. It was so fantastic.
The musicians put music to our Master's poetry from her book of poems "Love of Centuries". Here is one of the poems that was put to songs.

Please Wake Up

O world, wake up and behold
Rivers and mountains are in tumult
Burnt forests, eroded hills, desiccated streams
Whither do the poor souls go in the end of all dreams?

O great Earth, lessened be your agony
For these tears to wane with the persistent night
O seas and lakes , cease not your melodies
Allowing hope for a morrow among humanity...

O sentient beings,, have respite in the realm beyond
Though you departed without the last utterance
Let the throbbing of my heart abate
While I await Earthlings' timely repentance.

O deep forests, preserve your true essence
Protect the human race in their moments of erring
Please accept my heartfelt thousand teardrops
To nurture your majestic trees, leaves and roots.

O heart, relent your sobbing
For my soul to rest in long nights
Tears dried up and I am wordless
Weeping in pain for the tormented

O, I cry, I plead, I beseech
O, infinite Buddhas, the Gods, the Angels
Deliver souls straying from the True Path
Wandering in the endless cycle of suffering!

O brother, wake up at once
Proudly walk upon great seas and rivers
Look straight at the flaming sun
And vow sacrifice to save all on Earth!

O sister, wake up this instant
Arise from places of devastation
Together, let's renew our planet
For all to sing joyous songs of oneness.

Beautiful Chicago boutique

Heath and I went to an amazing store last weekend called Brimfield. They cover antique furniture in beautiful plaid and pattered blankets.  They'll cover pretty much anything you want - we're already thinking about chairs, tufted stools + pillows for our apartment.

Sorry for the picture quality on some of these - I had some smudges on my iPhone :)

Early Summer in Montpellier

We are enjoying a fantastic weather this month and the garden is just growing wild !

The wisteria is amazing !

This Pansy comes from Blanche Garden, we transplanted some last year and they begin to disseminate !

This is a Montpellier Orchid, a protected specie (You can see that I spared it, altough it was right in the way of my mower !)

Some home grown Tomato seeds, more to come (and go to Claire's Garden Too)

And this sunday, we went to Sommières for the Flea Market, along the Virdoule River

And a visit to the ruins of the Castle, up the Village, beautiful , a 'must go there next time' Place
This view of another Castle nearby, makes you feel like being in Tuscany

Grilling season

It's finally warm enough to grill!  We got a new grill this year and added some wood flooring to our concrete balcony.

This is our beautiful view!

Here are our kebabs...red and green peppers, red onions, cherry tomatoes and for me - Gardein soy chicken with lemon pepper, for Heath - shrimp and scallops.

Yum!

Laure - we can grill corn this summer!!!!  I know that's what you're really coming to the states for ;)

And for Heath, dinner would not be complete without French wine.  We found a local wine shop around the corner that sells Pic St Loup wine :)
